Stone Time Series

The weathered stones on a beach or riverbank are millions of years old. This amount of time is beyond the grasp of our immediate understanding. When we visit these places, we are drawn to these stones, which have been smoothed over by time. Each one is unique, even though some vary only slightly.  We often carefully gather stones to take away with us. The reason for our selections is often unclear.

The viewer holding one of my stones is handling an object that is brand new.  The language of the surfaces speak about the passage of time. My desire is for the viewer to slow down, to hold a handmade stone and pause.  The viewer’s sense of time has been disrupted as they stand in front of the piece.
